“My two sons visited me over the long President’s Day holiday.
I am left with mixed emotions and I wrote about it:
My boys have flown home
Leaving me with a sadness
Of times missed with them
In the aftermath of divorce
They are grown now
Each on their own journey
Yet clearly carrying
Traits from their father
In many ways still strangers
Words often chosen carefully
But seeds sown years ago
Are now admired with pride
“Valentine’s Day” I have often wondered why we have had the need to create a “special” day to celebrate love. My journey has given me the answer. As I thought about it this morning and realized how fortunate I am to have arrived at this place at this time, I composed this poem:
Love awakens me
Holds me while I sleep
Nourishes my days
And eases my soul
It renews my life
Encourages my dreams
Protects me from harm
And lightens my load
My laughs are heartier
My tears deeper
My touch gentler
My mind clearer
I don’t need this day
To understand its wonder
Embrace its beauty
Or gift its presence
But I’m glad it reminds me
Of the magic that is possible
When hearts connect
And roses bloom
Surrounded by friends
Celebrating the words
And I wrote for them
Thoughts from the heart
So that each of them knew
How special it was
That their journey and mine
Could share that moment
I am so proud that we’ve got the web site up and running in conjunction with the publication of “Into My Life Unexpected…Learning to Love Again”. Please enjoy my poetic tribute.
HUMBLED AND PROUD
THAT MY WORDS WERE FREED
TO FIND THEIR WAY
TO THE HEARTS OF OTHERS
KNOWING THAT THE JOURNEY
CAN NEVER FAIL
FOR IN THEIR REINCARNATION
I HAVE FOUND SUCCESS
