Love awakens me…
Holds me while I sleep
Nourishes my days
And eases my soul
It renews my life
Encourages my dreams
Protects me from harm
And lightens my load
My laughs are heartier
My tears deeper
My touch gentler
My mind clearer
I use every day
To understand its wonder
Embrace its beauty
And gift its presence
And I’m grateful it reminds me
Of the magic that is possible
When hearts connect
And roses bloom
The beach at sunset
Colors of the day
Fading into darkness…
Giving time to reflect
The waters calm
Soothing to the soul
As we retreat
To the loneliness of evening
I never owned a dog
Or any pet before
So I never really understood…
Until now
How childlike and innocent
How completely dependent
How amazingly comforting
This creature of God can be
Waiting for me at the door
Lying next to me as I write
And gently reminding me
Of how much she loves me
When I discarded
The past
And all its hurt…
My journey could begin
And forgiveness was essential
For I finally understood that
I needn’t forgive them
But I had to forgive me
I awake to the peace
Of her gentle touch
As she opens her eyes…
And smiles at my presence
Lying together
Locked in the joy
Of unrelenting passion
And mystical arousal
